In 2017, university students from Paraná had an extra boost to develop entrepreneurship: Startup Garage. The pilot program was held at Uniguaçu, in partnership with Sebrae, to support students’ business ideas.
The idea is that the enrolled projects receive training and go under a screening process for six months, with mentorship with university professors and Sebrae experts. The acceleration program goes from the idea maturing phase to market and financial consulting. Students are also instructed about team management and, at the end of the cycle, two startups are selected.
Students from all majors can participate and therefore all degrees offer a entrepreneurship course. The initiative reinforces the importance of academic teaching of entrepreneurship with hands-on experiences, opening the university doors market (read more about it here).
